for an intelligent future
Open Innovation Lab is a project promoted by the University of Bologna and Imola Informatica to improve the connection between the world of research, and local businesses and authorities.
Our goal is to create an open, free technological innovation ecosystem in order to develop local communities.
In a minute, professor Antonio Corradi tells how the Open Innovation Lab works
Technological innovation laboratories open to businesses and researchers. These have been set up in conjunction with the University of Bologna and Imola Informatica, on topics of common interest.
Projects and technology transfer activities arise from the laboratories, together with new research and development contributions, including in the academic field.

This joint lab is promoted by the University of Bologna and the Santa Catarina State University (Brazil). It has been set up with support from the Italian-Brazilian Cultural Foundation (FIBRA).
Main goals: to design innovative, high value-added ICT business models, and to propose new approaches to catalysing big data technology developments for Industry 4.0.
A physical and virtual place where students, researchers, and staff from the businesses associated with the Open Innovation Lab may use hardware, middleware and software infrastructure to experiment with innovative technologies.
These are, in particular, related to Cloud Computing, BigData, Industry 4.0 and Machine Learning: virtualization and private IaaS (OpenStack) systems, virtual networks, dedicated hardware clusters, GPUs, virtual and physical switches and routers, distributed file systems and storage, and IoT devices.
The laboratory was created and is developed with the aim of allowing all the working groups to work securely with very few constraints, since they effectively have administrator privileges over the entire infrastructure devoted to them.
